As I said in my previous post, I've been painting a couple of portals for a friend.
Normally I don't show stuff I paint for others online before the new owner receives it as a matter of courtesy, but Johan gave the go-ahead to show these off early. Per request the portals were painted in blue and yellow, in reference to a certain PC game that deceives you with regards to baked goods. ;)
The stonework was left more subdued.
So, thank you Johan, for letting me paint these and show them off early, I'll get them to you soon! :)
These look absolutely tremendous! Do you mind me asking what colour you used as a base for the stonework?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHmmm, I sorta mixed those on the fly, so you'll have to play ratios by eye..
VerwijderenIt's all Vallejo, except where noted otherwise:
The primer was black. The basecoat I sponged on, it's a roughly 50/50 mix of Very Dark Green and Basalt Grey.
After that came a wash of (I think it was)GW Cthonian Camoshade, partly because I had mixed my base colour too grey. The wash did deepen the shadows nicely, though. Drybrush on the base colour again. Deepen the shadows where necessary with a black ink (I used Coat D'Arms Armour Ink, but GW's black shade or such would work too.)
Lighten the mixed base colour with Green Grey, drybrush that and finish with a final light drybrush of pure Green Grey.
That should do it.
Thank you so much for the recipe, it must be the addition of green, but it looks really great.
