I've been doing some hobby stuff the past few weeks, but due to a concussion, wasn't able to sit at a PC long enough to post about it. I'm feeling better now, which makes it time to catch up a bit.
As this is going to be a longer, picture-filled post, you can see it all after the break.
Right, got yourself comfy for a longer post? Here goes:
I've brewed some mead for friends birthdays in December. One set of which was for the friend who GMs our Iron Kingdoms RPG. These I labelled and wrapped in an in-universe style, and so I feel have a place on this blog:
The one on the left is a regular mead, the one on the right a metheglin, a spiced mead (this one has cloves, cardemom and cinnamon added). Labels were made in GIMP, with images stolen from the internets. Same with the tax stamps. I wrapped them in sketch paper in a method similar to wrapping paper cartridges.
I had my 3D printer running for a friend, he asked for a Ramilies Class Starfortress for Battlefleet Gothic. (And I'll be printing one for myself as well, in the near future....)
Quite the beast! And a bit of a nightmare to get to print properly, but I got there...
Games Workshop released the annual White Dwarf figure, Techpriest Grombrindal, and I couldn't resist... Which in turn spurred me on to gather and paint the other Mechanicus figures I'd gathered over the years. I present to you a Techpriest Conclave of the Graia Forgeworld, tasked with overseeing the construction of a Warhound Titan (I've decided to paint my 3D printed Warhound in Legio Astraman colours, which are based on Forgeworld Graia):
From left to right:
-An Enginseer Primaris, to oversee construction of the Plasma engine and power couplings to the weapons, as well as general construction.
-A Titan Techpriest, to guide the building of the machine itself, and provide insight into the mysteries of the God-Engines.
-A Magos Cybernetica, responsible for the MIU interfaces, and proper installation and programming of the weapons servitors.
-A Magos Dominus, to oversee the whole endeavour
-An Abhuman Magos Mechanicus, renowned for his expertise at superheavy weapons as well as fermented libations...
And their anterior aspects.
Still in the works are their Servitor allotment and several point defenses.
These are mainly a for fun project, though I can see them exploring Space Hulks or other abandoned complexes in their quest for knowledge.
Finally, the knock on my head has seemed to knock Cyberpunk loose again. So I did a little bit on that, while I was convalescing, picking up an old, semi-abandoned project: A cyberpunkified post-office/minimart/small commercial building. Here it is pre-paint (paint has yet to happen, because I still have bad headaches, and can't even contemplate firing up my compressor at the moment....):
The original building, pre-modification.
Cyberpunking up the facade:
Those white strips are steel tape, allowing me to affix signage, etc. with magnets or magnet tape.
A basic, bare bones interior.
The back of the building, with secured acces and an airco unit:
My ghetto lighting assembly:
The building, lit up, with a pair of 3D printed benches in front of it, as well as a quick mockup store sign:
"Store closed" :)
And the lighting, without the sun washing it out:
The grey paint on the sidewalk and back lot is ferrous paint by the way, allowing me to magnet-mount street lamps and traffic signs without having to put them on on large bases and allowing them to be accidentally knocked over during play without any damage.
More, and larger, buildings to follow when I'm feeling fitter again....
See you again next time!
Hey, glad to see you posting again. That starfort is a bit great, and I like how the cyberpunk building is a modification of a mid century building rather than some gleaming glass thing... most scifi seems to think that everything will be new.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenConcussion! Hopefully you are returning to normal.
Thank you!
VerwijderenThe (vaguely) planned cyberpunk city will be a mix of old buildings with "upgrades" ,like that one, and newer buildings, some of which will be all slick and glass and others more brutalist and utilitarian. Cities renew themselves piecemeal over time, and are rarely designed from whole cloth by a single architect...
Plus, it gives me more variation, to keep me interested while building. ;)
